Montessori School Programs

Our Montessori School Programs focus on Educating and guiding children through the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori.

A brief history of Dr. Maria Montessori:

Maria Montessori was a pioneering figure in education, born in 1870 and passing away in 1952. As the first Italian woman to earn a medical degree, she dedicated her career to working with marginalized children, particularly those deemed “un-teachable.” Her experiences in Rome’s poorest areas shaped her understanding of child development.

In 1907, Montessori opened her first school, the “Casa de Bambini,” where she implemented her innovative educational philosophy. She believed in the innate drive for self-development in every child and emphasized fostering a natural desire to learn. In her classrooms, children choose their own activities, which are designed to promote independent exploration and self-correction.

Montessori’s approach encourages lifelong learning by allowing children to engage with specially crafted materials, making education a joyful and self-directed experience. Her legacy continues to influence educational practices worldwide, promoting a holistic view of childhood development.

Our aim is to educate and guide each child through the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori, fostering a hands-on, child-centered learning environment. We strive to create a space where every child can reach their fullest cognitive, social, and emotional potential. By encouraging exploration and independence, we support their natural curiosity and love for learning, ensuring a holistic educational experience that nurtures each child’s unique abilities.

Our Infant Program

The youngest members of our school are embarking on their journey of discovery, learning everything in an environment tailored to their developmental needs. Their days are filled with conversation, interaction, movement, and exploration. We prioritize creating a loving and secure atmosphere, ensuring they feel safe while their parents are away. We cherish the special snuggles we receive each day from our little ones, reinforcing our commitment to nurturing their emotional well-being as they grow and learn.

Our Toddler Program ~ The toddler cognitive development.

The toddler area plays a crucial role in your child’s cognitive development, laying the foundation for academic, social, and emotional skills. During this stage, children actively seek information and rapidly develop spoken language, moving beyond non-verbal communication. Toddlers naturally crave independence, knowledge, order, consistency, and exploration of their surroundings.

Our toddler environment is thoughtfully designed to support these developmental needs, allowing children to explore safely and confidently. Each classroom provides a beautiful, accessible space that encourages curiosity and independence.

In our Toddler program, each student has the opportunity to:

  • Strengthen language skills
  • Refine gross and fine motor skills
  • Develop independence and confidence
  • Practice social skills and caring for others
  • Explore music, movement, and literature

We are dedicated to nurturing their growth and fostering a love of learning in this vital stage of development.

Early Childhood Program ~ The “absorbent mind” phase.

Dr. Montessori described children aged three to six as possessing an “absorbent mind,” highlighting their intense mental activity and eagerness to learn from their surroundings. The preschool classroom serves as a natural progression from the toddler classroom, allowing students to build upon their foundational knowledge.

A typical day for our young students includes gathering in a circle to sing songs and explore new topics, new works, calendar, weather, letter or the week and introducing any new friends. In this environment, children navigate their classroom with confidence, engaging with concepts in practical life, sensorial experiences, early math, language skills, cultural studies and art. They also learn important skills in grace and courtesy, fostering a spirit of care and respect as they interact with one another and take responsibility for their space.

Each school day features active outdoor playtime in our safe, child-friendly play areas, further enriching their experience.

Our program offers every child the opportunity to:

  • Develop a solid academic foundation and a desire for lifelong learning
  • Encourage independent decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Become an integral member of the classroom community
  • Foster positive social, emotional, and physical growth in a respectful environment

We are committed to nurturing each child’s growth and instilling a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.

Elementary Program ~ Fostering Independence

The elementary curriculum at our school integrates a wide range of subjects, including history, geography, math, geometry, earth sciences, physical sciences, language arts, and literature. This interconnected approach helps children understand the relationships between different fields of study.

Students receive lessons and then engage in follow-up activities that synthesize their learning, allowing for both individual and collaborative work with peers. Cooperative group work is a key aspect of Montessori philosophy, fostering lively discussions, problem-solving, and decision-making skills that are essential for success in school and beyond.

As with all Montessori levels, the Elementary program emphasizes that children learn best through movement and hands-on activities. It provides the cognitive, social, and emotional support necessary for them to reach their full potential.

During this stage of development, children experience:

  • A transition from concrete to abstract thinking
  • A growing interest in socialization
  • Enhanced thinking and memory through creativity and imagination
  • A heightened awareness of fairness, social justice, and compassion

Our commitment is to nurture these developmental changes, helping each child thrive as they explore and connect with the world around them.
